The idea behind the name
Love is a habit. What does that mean?
It means love is less a feeling you wait for and more a practice you return to. Habits are built in small, ordinary reps, and so is love: for the people around you, and for yourself.
A practice, not a mood
Feelings come and go. A habit is what you do on the days the feeling is not there. The oldest description of love most of us have heard is a list of things love does: it is patient, it is kind, it keeps no record of wrongs, it always protects, always hopes, always perseveres (1 Corinthians 13). Every one of those is something you can practise.
That is good news on a hard day. You do not have to feel ready. You only have to take the next small step.
Start where you are
Love meets you where you are, and does not leave you there. On our home page you can finish one sentence, "I want to become more ___", and get one small thing to try today.
- ConnectedConnected means being known by a few people, and knowing them back.
- PeacefulPeaceful is not the absence of hard things.
- FreeFree means carrying what is yours to carry, and setting down what is not.
- SteadySteady means taking the next step, even when you cannot see the whole path.
- AliveAlive means noticing things again: taste, light, people, a song.
- HopefulHopeful means expecting that good can still come, and leaning toward it.
Habits grow better together
Nobody builds a habit like this alone. That is why everything we do points toward real people in real places: a friend, a family, a church or community group, a counsellor when one would help. If you would like company on the way, a real person from our team is one tap away.
